BORN IN 1941. THE FOLLOWING 3 NETSUKE WERE CREATED WHEN THE ARTIST WAS 33 TO 35 YEARS OLD. NIKKI DANJO AND JESUS CHRIST DISGUISED AS A BUDDHIST MONK WERE CARVED WHEN THE ARTIST WAS UNDER SPONSORSHIP. YAMA UBA, THE MOUNTAIN WITCH WHO RAISED KINTARO, JAPAN'S GOLDEN BOY, WAS AN EARLIER CARVING [FOR THIS STORY SEE JOLYS LEGENDS OF JAPAN, PAGE 274,#464].

   He has documented on the Netsuke that he followed
   a design by SOSUI, the SO School Master.

   This Samurai had the ability to turn himself into a rat.
   Surprised when trying to steal a map from his Master's bedroom,
   he turned himself into a rat when discovered.
   The guards when entering the room only saw a scampering rat.
